Symposium Overview

The Koret UC LEADS Research and Leadership Symposium is the highlight of each academic year, and the annual opportunity for Mentors and Scholars from all campuses to meet as an intellectual community. At the Symposium, Scholars share the results of their research through poster presentations, attend professional development workshops and panels, listen to keynote addresses from speakers in government and industry, and meet other members of the UC LEADS community. The Symposium is open to Scholars, Mentors, and special guests. The UC LEADS Coordinators start planning the event in August. The coordinators form subcommittees and develop each aspect of the event from logistics to give-aways to the program booklet. The Symposium is hosted by UC Campuses:

Symposium Subcommittees

Host Campus Subcommittees [Host Campus Staff] - The Host Campus Subcommittee is responsible for obtaining and preparing appropriate meeting and campus parking reservations, arranging hotel accommodations, and organizing appropriate transportation between airport, hotels, and event.

Program Booklet Subcommittee - The Program Booklet Subcommittee is responsible for all components of the program booklet: collecting and editing the campus information, collecting and editing the schedule and keynote speaker information, and working with the printer to create a time line for editing, producing, and distribution.

Student Participation Subcommittee - The Student Participation Subcommittee is responsible for coordinating all campus participant registration, including emergency contacts, accessibility needs, and dietary needs/allergies. This subcommittee is also responsible for creating and disseminating poster presentation instructions and creating the poster presentation assignments.

Mentor Participation - The Mentor Participation/Entertainment Subcommittee is responsible for inviting Mentors and determining and implementing strategies to have Mentors participate in evaluating the Research Posters.

Workshop Committee - The Workshop Subcommittee is responsible for creating the workshop descriptions and identifying potential presenters.
